Join us next Wednesday for a special screening of the award-winning documentary Resistance Is Life with Director and Producer Apo W. Bazidi.

 

About the film:

From a refugee camp on the Turkish-Syria border, Resistance is Life features the story of 8-year-old Evlin, a Kurdish refugee who embodies the resilience of her community and hometown of Kobane against the occupation of ISIS militants. Told from her perspective, this feature-length documentary introduces the many faces of resistance over the course of eight months on both sides of the Turkish-Syrian border and provides an inside look at the extraordinary spirit behind the first major victory against ISIS militants. www.resistancemovie.com

About the director:

Apo W. Bazidi is an award-winning filmmaker who has been interested in storytelling and writing since he was a child. Apo was later inspired and encouraged by his mentor, Angelo Ciaffi, to pursue his passion for a career in film. He began studying film at City College of San Francisco in 2006 and he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Film & Television Production from the University of Southern California in 2011. Apo’s films are primarily concerned with social issues and the importance of global cultural interactions. He believes in making a positive change and his motto is „be creative and inspire“.

Aside from his personal films, Apo has also worked on a variety of narrative films, commercials, documentaries and music videos inside and outside of Hollywood.
