How to paint images in our reader’s heads?
Which wordings make our characters multidimensional and convey the atmosphere of cinema on paper?
Together with Katti Jisuk Seo, we will discover the amazing language of scripts like: Lost, When Harry Met Sally, Breaking Bad, Juno and many others.
In this workshop we READ and ANALYZE written film scenes in SCREENPLAYS. We will work out WRITING TECHNIQUES to involve our reader in our vision. The scripts will teach us the power of metaphors, jokes and poetic exaggerations. In CREATIVE WRITING exercises we will apply the tools that we discover in the screenplays. By the end of the weekend you will take with you a collection of screenplay excerpts, a pool of scriptwriting tools and your own new writings.
Target Group: The workshop is for anyone who is interested in reading and analyzing actual screenplays for fictional films and series. Mainly it is for writers / filmmakers who also want to write their films. But anyone else is welcome, too. Although it’s focused on fictional scripts, reading and analysing, those screenplays will be also helpful for writing documentary scripts and other cinematically concepts.
During the workshop we will be working on the following scripts: Lost, When Harry Met Sally, Breaking Bad, Juno, Fringe, Some Like It Hot, The Imitation Game, Room, Homeland, Good Will Hunting.
The workshop will be held in English.
