Filmemacher*innen und Filmstudierende aufgepasst!
Macht euch bereit für die ultimative Feier des unabhängigen Kinos, denn die filmArche wird 2023 zwanzig Jahre alt! Als Teil unserer einwöchigen Feier, freuen wir uns, das erste Arche Film Festival in Berlin vom 5. bis 9. Juli zu starten. Und wir möchten, dass DU und dein Film Teil unseres großartigen Festivalprogramms werden!
Also, wonach suchen wir? Kurz- und Mittellangfilme, die seit 2020 produziert wurden und eine maximale Länge von einer Stunde haben. Wir sind offen für unterschiedliche Genres und Produktionsstils – ob Fiction, Dokumentation, Animation oder experimentelle Filme – wir wollen alles sehen. Wir freuen uns besonders darauf, in einer eigenen Sektion Studierendenfilme zu präsentieren, wenn du also deine Fähigkeiten noch schärfst, freuen wir uns darauf zu sehen, was du drauf hast!
Wir begrüßen Einsendungen von allen Filmemacher*innen, ob Anfänger*in oder erfahrene Profis. Als selbstorganisierte Schule interessieren uns jedoch besonders Filme, die marginalisierte Erzählungen ans Licht bringen, einschließlich, aber nicht beschränkt auf BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ und Personen mit Diaspora-Erfahrungen. Außerdem widmen wir einen Teil des Festivals insbesondere weiblichen und queeren Filmemacher*innen aus dem Iran und Afghanistan. Wir suchen nach Filmen, die sich mutig mit zeitgenössischen Themen auseinandersetzen und den Kanon in Form und Inhalt herausfordern.
Und was hast du davon, fragst du dich? Nun, wenn dein Film ausgewählt wird, wird er in zwei Kategorien konkurrieren: dem Studierendenfilmpreis und dem Publikumspreis.

Attention to all filmmakers and film students!
Get ready for the ultimate celebration of independent cinema as filmArche turns 20 in 2023! To kick off a week-long festival of festivities, we are thrilled to launch the first-ever Arche Film Festival in Berlin from July 5th to July 9th. And we want YOU to be a part of our dazzling lineup!
So, what are we looking for? Short and medium-length films produced from 2020 onwards with a maximum length of one hour. And we don’t discriminate based on genre or production style – from fiction, documentary, and animation to experimental films, we want to see it all. We’re especially excited to feature a special segment dedicated to student movies, so if you’re still sharpening your craft, we want to see what you’ve got!
We welcome submissions from all filmmakers, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced professional. But, as a self-organized school, we’re particularly interested in films that bring to light marginalized narratives, including but not limited to BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and those with diasporic experiences. We will be dedicating one section, especially to female and queer filmmakers from Iran and Afghanistan. We’re also looking for films that are fearless in tackling contemporary themes and challenge the canon in both form and content.
What’s in it for you, you ask? Well, if your film is selected, it will compete in two categories: The Students‘ Film Award and The Audience’s Choice Award.
